Nestled amidst the beautiful Kumaon ranges, is the Kumaon Engineering College Dwarahat. It was established by the then Govt. of Uttar Pradesh in 1986 for imparting engineering education and promoting technological environment in Kumaon region. The college started functioning in 1991. The campus is spread across 155 acres of land amongst a picturesque landscape promoting environment suitable for academic pursuits. Kumaon Engineering College is affiliated to Uttarakhand Technical University Dehradun. The college offers an excellent academic environment and has the status of an autonomous institutional society which is fully financed and controlled by the Uttarakhand State Government.
The College offers B. Tech. degree programmes in six disciplines (Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, civil engineering and electrical engineering) and one post graduate program in Master of Computer Applications (MCA) with a total intake of 280 students per year. All courses are approved by the AICTE, Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
The college infrastructure is carefully laid out to give a neat layout of the campus. The classrooms are airy and well ventilated with the necessary teaching aids provided. The central library operates on an open access basis. Students and staff members have an access to large number of books and journals, besides large number of competitive and technical magazines. Presently the library is procuring about 14 international journals & 50 national journals. The laboratories are well equipped and maintained nicely. There is also a computer centre with the round the clock accessibility to high speed internet.
The Placement Office is the nodal point of contact for companies to interact with KEC Dwarahat. The Office is well equipped and is designed to smoothly handle and support the placement process at all stages. Infrastructure for pre-placement talks, written tests, group discussions and personal interviews is available. Department of Training and Placement is playing a big role for the placement and to arrange industrial training of the KEC students. Some of the prominent companies which have recruited students in the past are Infosys, Bajaj, Trident, HCL, Tech Mahindra, Satyam, L&T Infotech and Hughes Comm.
The College is fully residential and is equipped with 9 hostels (boys and girls) and 01 transit hostel of different capacities to cater the needs of the students. Two boys’ hostel of capacity 125 and 120 single seated and one girls’ hostel of 120 single seated capacities are under construction. The hostels are well furnished having all the basic amenities along with recreation facilities, mess and a guest room.
