FEBRUARY’10: Under the chairmanship of HRD minister Kapil Sibal, the first IIT Council is eyeing for more foreign admissions at the PG level by framing a policy that includes introducing scholarships for studying at IIT and fee reduction for PG students in the IITs.
Permitting IITs to create extra seats for foreign PG students to ensure that youth from other countries take part in R&D in a big way is also being considered by the IIT council.
